This year is a difficult one for all of us in many unexpected ways, through it our garden has given me an anchor and a project to focus on. I’ve been developing our little urban courtyard for six years by growing everything in pots over the existing twenty year old patio. Last year I’d formed a plan to remove every single pot to plant things in the ground to fit my style of gardening better and to significantly reduce the maintenance. We upcycled the patio by reusing the existing slabs, directing water into the soil. Here you can see how the garden progressed from planting all of my plants at the start of lockdown in April through to September. Every plant here I already had, most grown from seed, cutting or plug plant and I grow everything organically only ever using peat free compost.
